Once all the credits rolled on Marvel Studios ‘Avengers: EndGame’, the 22nd movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we were ready to tell a story of our own. This epic film directed by Anthony and Joe Russo concluded an unprecedented 11-year shared story told on big screens across the world. Before attendees left our theater at Regal Cinema in Lansing, MI, we stood up and asked everyone to raise their hands if they cried.
Hands went up across the room.
Everyone expecting the biggest superhero battle ever filmed got more than what they bargained for. ‘EndGame’ showed the broken-hearted humans inside the costumes, leaving them to fight emotional battles far more challenging than the life-altering villain Thanos.
After the events of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ left half of all life in the universe deceased, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye, and a few remaining allies including Ant-Man, War Machine, and Captain Marvel, were tasked with reversing the devastating loss of lives.
After a shocking opening sequence that concluded with a 5-year time jump, ‘EndGame’ began to tell arguably the best story in the history of superhero movies. Each characters’ arc established in the 21 previous movies got resolved as the narrative gradually built to its climatic, gut-wrenching finale.
We left the theater wiping tears from our eyes yet completely happy with the movie. ‘Avengers: EndGame’ is the culmination of an 11-year investment that pays off big time. Raise your hands if you agree. |THIS
