Togetherness is what our ‘Captain Marvel’ moving-going experience was about at NCG Cinema in Lansing, MI on March 7, 2019. We felt it in the fictional adventure on the big screen and amongst the real-life audience that packed the stadium theater. We laughed together, gasped together, and simultaneously yelled out excitedly during the traditional Marvel movie mid-credits scene.
‘Captain Marvel’, the 21st movie in Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, had us braving an incredibly cold night to watch Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson portray the title hero. Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a story written by Boden, Fleck, Nicole Perlman, Meg LeFauve, Geneva, Robertson-Dworet, the 90s-set movie finds an amnesia-suffering superpowered Earth woman caught in the middle of an ages-long intergalactic war. The tale plays out in a unique way backed by some cool action, hilarious moments, a bit of suspense, and a really good soundtrack.
We enjoyed Larson in the lead role. Her chemistry with Samuel L. Jackson as a younger Nick Fury made for more than a few laugh-out-loud moments. None made the audience louder than that aforementioned mid-credits scene. It was the set-up for ‘Avengers: End Game’ that everyone, us included, apparently wanted to see. |THIS
