The Royal Rumble match is a variation of the traditional Battle Royal match with a total of 30 competitors. Two WWE Superstars start in the ring, every 90 seconds thereafter another Superstar enters. A Superstar is eliminated when they’re thrown over the top rope and both feet touch the floor.
The last remaining Superstar is guaranteed a championship opportunity at WrestleMania versus the current RAW Women’s Champion, Smackdown Live Women’s Champion, or NXT Women’s Champion.
The 34th annual Royal Rumble happens live from the WWE ThunderDome in St. Petersburg, Florida on January 31, 2021.
I think Shayna Baszler should be its winner.
She was a dominant, frightening 2-time NXT Women’s Champion. Very few opponents were comparable matchups and all of them walked away worse off for contesting her.
On the post-Crown Jewel episode of Friday Night SMACKDOWN Baszler made a surprise appearance and made short work of their Women’s Champion Bayley. She next showed up on RAW to put their Women’s Champion Becky Lynch on notice.
A former UFC fighter, Shayna brought her uncaged aggression to the 2020 Elimination Chamber match where she choked out 5 other Superstars to win. Crowned the #1 contender, she lost a closely contested championship match to Lynch at WrestleMania.
Since then, Shayna’s been palling around with Nia Jax. The two even won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. A return to solo contention is where she should be, though. It would be fitting for her and Jax to be the final 2 or 3 women in the Royal Rumble match with Shayna coming out of it the victor.
From there she should finally, frighteningly claim one of the women’s titles from whomever is defending it. |THIS.
