There is a lot of character in artwork especially 12” vinyl covers.
I found this Bette Midler LP while going through a box of records in the back of Book Cottage, a bookstore in Jackson, MI.
I’d never seen Thighs and Whispers before. The record is in outstanding condition for a 1979 release. The art direction is credited to Sandi Young.
The cover is simple but eye catching for a couple reasons. One, young Bette looks amazing on it. The other reason is how the background compliments her blonde hair and skin tone. It looks like a painting.
The best part, though, is the insert that holds the record.
The image pops. Bette is captured against a floral background with a look on her face like she’d been caught misbehaving. Given how funny and boisterous she can be, she probably was!
The legendary actress and singer has lots of cool highlights on her career resume. Now her album Thighs and Whispers is a highlight in my vinyl collection. |THIS
