Since Extended Plays (EPs) have become prominent in music again, it’s only right we pay homage to one of the best.
Philly MC Bahamadia impressed with her debut album, 1996’s Kollage. Fans of her unique flow and lyrical ability anticipated its follow-up. After a four year wait, she finally released BB Queen – an 8 track EP of incredible Hip Hop mastery.
With smoothed-out production that perfectly complimented her flow, Bahamadia re-emerged with a set so inspiring and vibe worthy, non-rappers can’t resists the urge to spit while listening.
With the lows rumbling underneath the laid back, Slum Village-assisted “One-4-Teen (Funky For You)”, Bahamadia let’s all know the impact of what they’re audibly experiencing.
She rhymes, “This joint hits more like vehicular smacks from Mack trucks/The bassline banging as f**k/SV be on the hook, shook”.
BB Queen shakes things up right from the jump. With DJ Revolution on the ones-and-twos, Cali Agents and CHOPS guest on the high-powered opening track “Special Forces”.
Later, Bahamadia teams with Dwele for the soulful and heartfelt “Beautiful Things”.
Every aspect of Bahamadia’s classic EP is a beautiful thing. In fact, it’s as fulfilling as full length. |THIS.
