On February 18, 2022, I will have the honor of hosting ‘Return of the Boom Bap’, the homecoming concert of Hip Hop artist Sixman live at The Pyramid Scheme in his native Grand Rapids, Michigan. He will be joined by group The First Coalition, solo act Alfie Da Great, and DJs Monk Matthaeus and Ill One.

I met Sixman in 1998. At the time my friends and I were running pioneering Hip Hop website TheGrooveSpot.com.

We were given the opportunity to hear his debut single “Who Am I” before it released. We were blown away!

Our immediate and collective impression was that his future was bright and we were eager to use our still new online platform to share Sixman’s song with others.

“Who Am I” became one of, if not the very first, Hip Hop single to stream online.

Today Sixman resides in Atlanta, Georgia, he’s traveled the world thanks to the success of his music, and has amassed a catalog of great singles. What has hasn’t done yet is perform them as a headliner in his hometown of Grand Rapids.

That changes at ‘Return of the Boom Bap’.

Let’s dive into Sixman’s catalog. Watch the video for “So Far Away” from his 2012 EP The Connect. |THIS.
