Welcome to Royal Rumble Countdown brought to you by THISENT.com and The Wrestling Heroes and Insiders Podcast aka The WHIP Show!

World Wrestling Entertainment’s annual Royal Rumble match is a variation of the traditional Battle Royal match. With a total of 30 competitors, two WWE Superstars start in the ring then every 90 seconds thereafter another Superstar enters. A Superstar is eliminated when they’re thrown over the top rope and both feet touch the floor.

The last remaining Superstar is guaranteed a championship opportunity at WrestleMania versus the current RAW Women’s Champion or Smackdown Women’s Champion.

The 36th annual Royal Rumble happens live from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on January 28, 2023.

We think Dana Brooke should be its winner.

Underappreciated. Overlooked. An underdog.

A champion body builder turned professional wrestler, Brooke’s physique and confidence made her a bright up-and-coming villain during her time in NXT. Early in her development she looked like a legitimate contender for a future NXT Women’s Championship reign.

Following a feud with Asuka, Brooke prematurely made her way to RAW and Smackdown where she, even as 24/7 Champion, got lost in the shuffle. From Titus Worldwide to various tag teams, she never been dealt a fully playable hand. When holding a microphone, she speaks passionately about working hard and wanting to prove herself.

These are admirable character traits.

Brooke should carry those traits into the Royal Rumble match, using her passion and never-give-up enthusiasm, even in doubt, to gain sympathy. Once she has it, revert to her villainous, underhanded attitude from NXT to outlast 29 others to win the contest.

Her victory would be a shock. Not surprisingly, it likely won’t be taken seriously by Smackdown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, on the viewing audience.

With a chip on her shoulder, Brooke could head into her WrestleMania 39 title match willing to do anything to win and whatever it takes to not lose. |THIS ENT + The WHIP Show
