We’ll remember 2021 as a year of triumphs and tragedies, wins and losses, and unifying optimism and aggravated division. In THIS INTERVIEW we revisit the last 12 months from the perspective of football player DiQuan Hunt.

Dedicated to his craft and a proud alumnus of the Lansing Lightning, Hunt is excited to take his gridiron career to the next level as a member of West Michigan Ironmen.

Hunt shared some of his thoughts with us by answering THIS questionnaire about his life in 2021 and what to expect from him in 2022.

How would you summarize 2021?

I would describe 2021 as being an eye opener.

Did you read anything inspiring or influential that you would recommend to others?

Over the summer I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad. I would definitely recommend it! Great read.

What was the best song of the year?

The best song of the year I would give to Drake, “Papi’s Home”.

What were the movies or television shows that you couldn’t stop watching?

BMF and Raising Kanan are great shows. Me and my fiancé binge watched them in about a day.

Who or what entertained you the most?

I play a lot of video games in my downtime, so Call of Duty definitely entertained me the most.

What was your favorite social media post – by you or someone you follow?

Seeing Lil Wayne on his collaboration with Eminem on a rooftop skatepark.

Tell us the most surprising thing you heard or saw all year.

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna are dating, and possibly pregnant.

How did you evolve over the last 12 months?

Over the past 12 months I’d have to say I’ve evolved my brain, changing the way I think and my outlook on things. Trying to grow into a better person.

In what way has the pandemic affected your outlook on life?

The pandemic made me realize how quickly life can literally change in the blink.

Which of your blessings would you say was the biggest?

My biggest blessing is definitely my son, being his father, watching him grow, and teaching him. He’s given me everything I didn’t have.

Did you experience a defining moment?

My most defining moment was signing my first professional arena contract after a few years of being invited to workouts and waiting on call backs.
