Welcome to Vol. 2 of THIS special edition of GOOD QUESTION, brought to you exclusively by THISENT.com! I’m your host, “Word Heavyweight Champion” Mr. Joe Walker.
Throughout my illustrious career as an entertainment writer and journalist, I’ve been blessed with opportunities to speak with many notable and famous persons. One of those is Grammy-nominated R&B singer Dwele!
During our conversation I asked Dwele THIS good question: What do we lose when prominent entertainers and artists pass away?
He answered, “In all the situations where someone has passed – a Whitney Houston, a J Dilla – I don’t feel like music really loses.
In Whitney’s time, in Dilla’s time, they did what they were supposed to do. They left the music business with a lot of jewels and a lot of great music. And with music, unlike life, it’s timeless. So, I feel like they did what they were supposed to do with their music. They blessed the world with it.
I don’t think anything is lost. Their presence is missed, but nothing is lost.
Miles Davis was someone who I respected. I respected his work, but once he passed I really got into him! With me being a horn player it made me hone in on what I do, but pay closer attention to what he did as well.” |THIS.
