During our conversation I asked $hort THIS good question: What do we lose when prominent entertainers and artists pass away?
He answered, “Well, take Rudy Ray Moore and Blowfly; as a comedian and as the character Dolemite, Rudy Ray Moore really, really, really motivated me. I’m not saying everything I’ve done I’ve directly got from that, but the more I listened to him the more it empowered my persona.
Blowfly, what I got from him was if you’re going to be nasty make it funny.
Rudy Ray Moore had the image of a performer, a pimp, a gangster, and he talked smack and rhymed! I admired him because he did movies. Who they f**k is going to do fake karate and have girls pulling out pistols? Just having the heart to film that junk was amazing!
With them being gone but having that body of work to look back on, and understand who it inspired, is cool.” |THIS.
