Welcome to THIS edition of GOOD QUESTION, brought to you exclusively by THISent.com! I’m your host, “Word Heavyweight Champion” Mr. Joe Walker.

Throughout my illustrious career as an entertainment writer and journalist, I’ve been blessed with opportunities to speak with many notable and famous persons. Normally, this would be where I’d introduce a celebrity to answer one of my questions. This time I’m going to answer one being asked by several others with an assist, or sorts, #1 charting producer PL12.

Should Dr. Dre take part in VERZUZ?

Yes.

For the unfamiliar, VERZUZ, the brainchild of super producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, is a music battle between history-making, genre-advancing producers with exceptional song catalogs. They each play their biggest hits and allow viewers on Instagram LIVE to determine the winner.

It’s fan service. And Dre has generations of fans all over the world.

He doesn’t even need to go deep into his catalog. Dre could start from like 2000 with such songs as “The Next Episode”, “How We Do”, “In The Club”. “I’ll Hurt You”, “Break Ya Neck”, “Rich Girl”, “Let Me Blow Ya Mind”, “No More Drama”, “Imagine”, “B Please”. “Not Today”, “Outta Control (Remix)”, “Animals”, “Genocide”, “Catalina”, “Lost Ones”, and “The Watcher 2”.

Among its first run of VERZUZ competitors, Lil John battled T-Pain and RZA vs DJ Premier became a record-setting clash. Since the debut of this series fans have been fantasy booking matchups with Dre’s name being at the top of many lists. They’ve discussed who should battle him if he does enter the live-streaming arena.

I suggest Q-Tip, DJ Quik, 9th Wonder, Teddy Riley, DJ Premier, Diddy, Kanye West, Alchemist, Black Milk, Pete Rock, Quincy Jones, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Timbo, or Rick Rubin.

During a Black History Month interview with producer PL12 about Dr. Dre, he said, “I must be clear when I say this: Dr. Dre is one of the pioneers to hip-hop and rap. The west coast wouldn’t have that signature sound of funk, jazz and hip hop if it wasn’t for the guru.  He was one of the first producers as a youngin I can remember sampling the way he did. I honestly feel he can’t be matched because he set the bar for production, especially for the west coast.” |THIS.
