Welcome to the debut edition of GOOD QUESTION, brought to you exclusively by THISent.com! I’m your host, “Word Heavyweight Champion” Mr. Joe Walker.
Throughout my illustrious career as an entertainment writer and journalist, I’ve been blessed with opportunities to speak with many notable and famous persons. One of those was late Grammy winning singer and musician Al Jarreau.
During our conversation I asked Al THIS good question: When does your talent take the biggest toll on you?
He answered, “When you’re touring, when you’ve been on the road for five weeks, it kicks your ass!
I spend hours on the bus, sleep for a few hours, then go and do a concert. Even if you love it, it’s hard. And I love this! Can’t you tell?
I love it. It’s the music. It’s always the music. I love singing it, talking about it, feeling it, and telling people about the goodness of the music. I tell people find something you love to do like I love to do music.
If you’re passionate about your profession when you get up in the morning, you’re a different kind of person. That’s the lesson to everybody on the planet. We’re supposed to find joy. Find something that feels good to you – planting flowers, rearranging furniture, fixing little cars – even if it doesn’t pay you a lot of money, and do it!
So many people sing for free in the church choir on Sunday, and they’re so happy anticipating going to sing in the church choir. They smile on Wednesday because Friday is rehearsal. They’re excited on Friday because it’s near to Sunday when they sing. Find that stuff in your life.” |THIS.
