Community organization 517 Living (517Living.com) has been promoting goodness in the Greater Lansing (517) Michigan Area since 2014. Founded by Sarah Pierce, the website and social platform uses its ONE Calendar to build awareness of the Best Events happening throughout the year.
In 2022 Pierce introduced the prestigious merit 517 Living Community Member of the Month, bestowing the honor to Jamie Robinson of Best Sellers Books & Coffee Co. in June of 2023.
In this interview Robinson shares details about who she is, what she does, and what she loves about living in the Greater Lansing Michigan Area.
Who are you?
I feel fortunate to live, work and be able to raise our family in Mason. I have been married to my husband Scott, for 39 years, and we have three adult children.
If you own or represent a business or organization, tell us about it (or them).
Our family owned businesses include Darrell’s Market and Hardware, The Vault Delicatessen and Bestsellers Books & Coffee Co.
Tell us about a recent uplifting experience you had in the Greater Lansing Area.
I enjoyed attending and meeting the author Kwame Alexander at Eastern High School.
What’s the most recent “new” (to you) local business or organization you’ve enjoyed discovering?
I’ve been assisting a group of professional printmakers “The Lino Ladies” at Bestsellers. Their amazing efforts and talents will bring the first ever “Mason Ink – A Block Party” to downtown Mason’s courthouse square on July 15th. It is in cooperation with Mason Kiwanis Club Foundation, Mason DDA and other sponsors and will feature TomCo Asphalt‘s huge street roller to press, paper and cloth into giant inked artwork. This is a public event with make-it take it print stations, and fun for all ages. Proceeds will benefit student art scholarships.
What is one thing, big or small, that you love about living in the Greater Lansing Area?
The independent businesses that make our communities interesting. Love Your Locals and keep us here! | By Sarah Pierce
