Monet Tejada, formerly Monet Stewart, is the matriarch of the Tejada family. For the last 10 years or so, she has been holding the family down and keeping the business alive while her husband, Lorenzo Tejada, has been locked up.
She has been the compass for the family and making sure that everything stays in order. She knows each role that her kids play in the business.
One of the things that is important to know about Monet is that trust is very important to her and having someone that she can trust means the world to her. When Tariq comes along, he brings so much value to Monet.
Tariq is the son she wishes Cane could be. He thinks he is strategic, and he found a way to take the business off the streets and make them invisible.
I distinctly remember in Season 1 that Monet asked Tariq, “Which one of my kids can I trust the most?” He told her, “Me.” That meant the world to Monet.
