Rick Ross’ debut album was highly recommended. My suggestion to other listeners is play it immediately if you’re in need of a good night’s sleep.

Considered a classic to some, I found Port of Miami to be repetitive – in its production and subjects. I was bored after the first few tracks. Coming off his hit single “Hustlin'”, Port reflected that song too closely. Many of its selections feel like mimics, repeat performances of one another.

Often reminding of fellow Miami native Trick Daddy or iconic peer Jeezy, Ross’ street tales of grinding for money are just potholes throughout inner city concrete. Redundant.

Ross’ vice is credibly Miami on “It’z My Time” featuring Lyfe Jennings, the rest is just sand granules blown in stale winds. | By Mr. Joe Walker
