Last year was incredible but challenging for hip-hop artist, musician and producer PL12, and we’re excited for what he has in store here in 2020. The Soundville Music producer took time out his busy schedule to answer THIS questionnaire about his previous 12 months and what to expect from him in the months ahead.

THIS: How would you summarize 2019?

PL12: Wow, 2019 was one hell of a ride for me. When the ball dropped, I had a bright outlook on [that] year. I was hoping to continue the momentum I had from 2018. I had produced a single for Texas rap legend Dorrough Music entitled “Catch Me” which landed as the 9th song on his first studio album since 2010’s ‘THE JUMP BACK’. Little did I know in early March I would almost lose my life and leg over a missed diagnosed leg infection that went septic in my bloodstream.

My kidneys and liver actually shut down, and I was on the intensive care floor in the hospital for 11 days. Thankfully I pulled through and it didn’t take me out. I just want this situation to be motivation for people to strive for better health and, also, to never give up. Never! I was making beats in my hospital bed. Do what you love until you can’t do it any longer!

THIS: What was your favorite song of ‘19?

PL12: I have to say my favorite song [last] year was probably that Drake and Rick Ross joint “Money In The Grave”. That joint slap!

THIS: What was your favorite movie?

PL12: I honestly think my favorite movie [last] year was ‘Joker’. It was crazy.

THIS: What’s the television show you couldn’t stop watching?

PL12: Honestly, the only TV I watch is Netflix, and 9 out of 10 times I’m watching “The Office”. Don’t judge me!

THIS: What album got the most play?

PL12: I have to say Rick Ross’ ‘Port Of Miami 2’.

THIS: What did you Google the most?

PL12: I probably Googled Trump the most [last] year just to keep up with what’s going on in the political world of craziness.

THIS: What was the most shocking thing you heard all last year?

PL12: That I could die in March.

THIS: Tell us how you evolved over the last 12 months.

PL12: The last 12 months has really just been a growing season for me mentally, really. I was down for really the whole year, not being able to travel like had in previous years. Me taking a seat really opened the door for a lot more practice time and fine tuning of my craft. I honestly feel I’m at the best at producing than I’ve ever been. Y’all l about to find out really soon.

THIS: What was your biggest blessing last year?

PL12: One of my biggest blessings in 2019 [was] just being here and being able to produce music and be around my kids. My dad wasn’t around for real growing up and I’m happy to still be around my little ones still. Hey Lil’ E, Braylon, Reese And Samai’ya!

THIS: How do you teach someone to have better respect for the value of time?

PL12: All I can tell them is the minute you arrive to this mystery planet your time begins. No one knows when their time is up. It can be gone so quick and unexpectedly. Live life to the fullest everyday like there is no tomorrow. That window of opportunity is only open for so long, so find a way through it and run with it!

THIS: What can we expect from you here in 2020?

PL12: Not to sound cliché or anything, but 2020 is my year! Besides trying to pin down my first platinum plaque, I have another journey I’m starting. Earlier this year I linked up with my guys at Rockstone Gems jewelry company. They specialize in custom jewelry from pendants to rings, to watches. They are the fine people responsible for keeping me shining from my ears to my neck! I’m looking forward to working more with those guys 2020 and designing some dope jewelry.  |THIS
