It’s one of those exceedingly cool moments.
On the morning of February 19, we visited acclaimed Grand Rapids, Michigan entertainment events publication localspins.com and found renowned Hip Hop artist Sixman’s name listed with superstar rock group Skillet and beloved singer/songwriters May Erlewine and John Mark McMillan.
Very cool.
Sixman, now residing in Atlanta, Georgia, came home to his native Grand Rapids to headline Return of the Boom Bap, a 3-day cultural event that culminated with a live concert at The Pyramid Scheme (68 Commerce Ave SW) on Friday February 18, 2022.
Presented by GRHIPHOP.org, FAM ENT, Debo Scotty, and THISENT.com, the show co-starred acclaimed group The Fist Coalition, Jammie Award-nominated solo act Alfie Da Great, and DJ icons Monk Matthaeus and DJ Ill One.
Additional acts Leonitis, Sonny Ski, Only The Team Entertainment’s raising star Early N Da Mornin, and B-boys Alien J, Rock, and Jamready also performed. All the elements of Hip Hop were front and center, and properly represented.
Local Spins wrote, “Grand Rapids native Sixman closed out a three-day homecoming rap romp with a Friday night hip hop showcase at The Pyramid Scheme, revving up fans with help from The Fist Coalition, Alfie Da Great, Sonny [Ski], host [Mr.] Joe Walker, DJ Monk Matthaeus and DJ Ill One.” Read the full article HERE.
The event kicked off on Wednesday February 16 with its Return of the Boom Bap Industry Mixer at Wasted Brand Clothing (Curve St SW). Presented by FAM ENT LLC, Wasted, Debo Scotty, and Queen of the Sweets GR, that night gave area artists, media, and tastemakers a place to network, enjoy music from DJ Seven Eightz and ILL ONE, and shop Wasted Brand and other event-related merch.
Sixman and Matthaeus rocked WYCE (88.1FM) GR Live from The Listening Room in Studio Park before linking with Queen of the Sweets for A Pop-Up Shop to VERTIGO Music (129 South Division) on Thursday February 17, 2022.
Their fans, friends, and followers got to experience them all up close and personal, get signed merch, and take photos.
On Friday Sixman visited Wedgwood Christian Services to record an inspiring Season 2 episode of Coffee Break Conversations. Then it was time for the Return of the Boom Bap live concert at The Pyramid Scheme. It was exciting, fun, emotional, and unforgettable.
Following Sixman’s performance he expressed his sincere gratitude, humbleness, and genuine love for everyone one involved, in attendance, and the city of Grand Rapids. He closed by informing everyone on hand that this was just the beginning, as the plan going forward is for Return of the Boom Bap to be a reoccurring event.
All three days were made of exceedingly cool moments. Very cool. |THIS ENT
