Martin Lawrence and Will Smith return to Miami as narcotics detectives Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey for one last ride in ‘Bad Boys for Life’.

The [‘Bad Boys’] series shot [the careers of] Lawrence and Smith to the stratosphere. The first one premiered in the early 90s.

The long-awaited return, the third installment, features a ghost from Mike’s past with revenge in mind. The resulting events bring to light Mike and Marcus’s divergent paths – one wants to retire, the other wants to ride ‘til the wheels fall off – as well as their need to reunite once again when tragedy strikes, along with a stunning revelation.

‘Bad Boys for Life’ beings what you would expect from the series; laugh-out-loud comedy, stunning visuals, and ultra-violence.

What surprised me about this one, however, was the heart and sentimentality underneath the chaos and high jinks, as Mike and Marcus deal with the passage of time to hilarious effect in some scenes, [their] mortality, and the need to grow up in some areas while going all in with the proper balance.

‘Bad Boys’ is the funniest and most balanced [compared to the first two], and is the best of the series.
