With masses suffering from fear-inflicted anxiety and survival worries, the great DJ Butcher went live on Facebook on March 20, 2020 with his special “Quarantine Throwback Mix”.

Standing in front of his ones-and-two, the Lansing, MI legend looked into the camera and said, “Basically, I’m at work, y’all.”

And Butcher no doubt got the job done!

Shouting out his 40-and-up diehards and his music loving fans of all ages, he blended and mixed a time-hop that scratched the surface of many eras without causing any damage.

On the contrary, anyone hurting before listening to Butcher was likely happy and pain free by the time his 3-hour set concluded.

Every person locked into this “Quarantine”, including us here at THIS ENT, saw a veteran musician flexing the art of his instrument. As viewers continued to pile on, Butcher showed he had the strength to lift all their spirits.

After calling for unity with “We Are the World”, Butcher unleased his nonstop string of jam after jam after – Dang! – another jam. The outbreak was awesome.

Around the 20-minute mark he started a string with “All Night Long” by Mary Jane Girls, then shouted “Let’s feel good” into the microphone as he dropped “Treat U Rite” by Angela Winbush. He followed that with “Never Knew Love Like This” by Alexander O’Neal and Cherelle which he blended perfectly into “You Bring Me Joy” by Mary J. Blige. That hit blended perfectly into “It’s Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me” by Barry White – the song Blige’s “Joy” samples. Butcher rolled that into “Who Do You Love” by Bernard Wright followed by LL Cool J’s “Loungin (Remix)” which features R&B group Total singing the chorus from “Who Do You Love”! Whew!

The mix continued with everyone from Snoop Dogg to The Temptations, from Slum Village to S.O.S. Band. Overall, DJ Butcher’s set was sick from beginning to end and it was the medicine all his listeners needed. | THIS
