The Loft in Lansing, MI was sold out for rock band Pop Evil on December 8, 2019. The #1 charting group were on a select city acoustic tour, performing intimate, stripped-down sets that were still fueled by relentless fan energy.

THIS was on hand at The Loft for what turned out to be a very impressive, enjoyable engagement.

Hosted by Q106 station manager and on-air personality Terry Stevens, he kept the hot crowd amped up and engaged while maintaining the flow of the night. The shows two openers, band Avalon Black and up-and-comer Brenden Monroe, both gave solid showings before the main act took the stage.

With rows of white candles burning in the background, Pop Evil front man and founding member Leigh Kakaty took the stage to deafening screams. He pulled up a seat, grabbed a guitar, and began an intensely more passionate rendition of their hit “100 In A 55” that immediately turned into a singalong.

Leigh was soon joined by his group mate Nick Fuelling and their special guest Mike Adkins, the guitarist for Uncle Kracker. Displaying excellent chemistry, the three stars kept the crowd swaying and singing, and screaming their approval.

At times during their set Leigh would engage the audience, making good use of the up-close-and-personal setting. He made them laugh, delivered high-fives, and signed some merch. He even did a fun Q&A.

Leigh also noted this acoustic tour was a passion project that was 15 years in the making, and how Lansing was destined to be one of its stops. He shared stories about hanging out at The Silver Dollar Saloon aka “The Dirty Dollar” that was met with an ovation.

The cheers continued as Leigh, Nick and Mike payed homage to East Lansing-born band The Verve Pipe by singing their hit “The Freshman”.

With the audience firmly in their palms, Leigh told a few behind-the-music anecdotes associated with 5 of Pop Evil’s most significant songs, each one performed with heart and gusto – “Someone Like You”, “Monster You Made”, “Torn to Pieces”, “Footsteps” and “Waking Lions”.

The most endearing tale, however, saw Leigh open up about the effects of success on his personal life. This brought on the highlight of the night, their performance of a brand new song called “Don’t Mean Anything”.

Based on the reaction we witnessed, for fans of Pop Evil this intimate acoustic show meant everything. |THIS
