Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.

This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Christie Prades is a shining example.

A successful actress and singer, Prades first desired to become a teacher like her mother. She longed to sing, though, and dreamed of hearing her voice fill Broadway theaters. Once she decided to pause her education at University of Miami, relentless hard work and dedication made her dream a reality.

Prades landed the leading role in hit Broadway music ‘ON YOUR FEET!’, portraying Pop music legend Gloria Estefan with electrifying results on stages across America and the United Kingdom. While good at what she does, she’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.

I asked Christie Prades to tell me about a time when she did something nice for someone she didn’t know. Here’s what she shared.

“There was a Broadway show closing and there was someone who was not the nicest person to me. Not kind in anyway, in any sense. I still felt like I needed to give them a card and a small gift as a congratulations for them closing out the show. I said a few kind words.

Although it was the hardest thing I had to do, I’m a Christian woman. I always try to think, What would Jesus do? It pushes us to be kinder to people that we aren’t the greatest of friends with, or aren’t nice with or cool with.

I just felt like I needed to give that person that gift and show them, look, you’re wonderful, you’re talented, and I wish you nothing but the best of luck, and the most success. You’re going to shine bright and I hope that God blesses you with so many more things in life in this lifetime.

I felt I needed to do that. I felt good within myself. I felt a closure with that.

The most important thing that we as human beings have to do is be around the people we get along with – that’s easy, but also be kind to those that may not be our favorite person in the world. Maybe that person needs it a lot more than we think.” |THIS
