Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.
This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Laurieann Gibson is a shining example.
An iconic entertainer with limitless creative abilities, Gibson is an award-winning director, television personality, actress, dancer, and an all-time great choreographer. Respected and revered around the world, her rhythmic, spectacular directions have been famously followed by BigBang, Missy Elliot, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Megan Thee Stallion, and Beyonce, among others.
Sought after for TV and film productions, Gibson will be an executive producer and judge for the upcoming artist development series ICON. Her artistic imprint and insight previously blessed MTV’s Making the Bad, Lifetime’s Dance Moms, Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, cult classic dance film Honey, and the critically acclaimed Beyond the Lights.
While good at what she does, she’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.
I asked Laurieann Gibson to tell me about a time when she did something nice for someone that she didn’t know. Here’s what she shared.
“I trust my spirit as it moves me to do something for someone I may not know. For me, that comes a lot in the form of inspiration.
It’s inspiring words, or encouragement. I’ll be around someone then I’ll just, all of the sudden, speak to their need.
Where they want to give up, I speak to the glass being half full, not half empty. That happens to me a lot. It’s in instances when I’ll know that someone’s an artist and they will have said something that triggers my instincts to encourage whatever they’re not capable of saying.
It could be them not wanting to admit something about their desire to sing or wanting to pursue something.
A lot of those times when I speak to people I don’t know, it’s in an inspiring way.” |THIS.
