Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.
This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Sixman is a shining example.
An acclaimed international hip-hop artist, Sixman used personal and professional challenges to fuel his lyrical excellence, riveting live performances, unwavering work ethic, and selfless mentorship. A product of the inner city of Grand Rapids, MI, both his survival and creative instincts mixed perfectly with music, a blend that led to a face-to-face compliment from global hip-hop icon DJ Premier.
Now residing in Atlanta, GA, Sixman continues to sell records all over the world while working extraordinary producers and artists in America and beyond. While good at what he does, he’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.
I asked Sixman to tell me about a time when he did something nice for someone he didn’t know. Here’s what he shared.
“A guy walked up to me, I think he was a homeless guy, and he was wondering if he could get a $1 from me.
At first, I was said no, I don’t really [have] it. I was acting defensive. But then we started to [have a conversation] for a little bit about a couple of things.
Then my heart said, Jimaine, don’t be like that! Give that man something. I don’t care if it’s your last. I don’t care if you’re a little bit low or whatever, or you’re just waiting. Give that man something.
So, I gave him some money and his attitude just brightened up.
I did it because my heart told me to do it.” |THIS
