Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.
This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Sundance Head is a shining example.
An acclaimed singer, songwriter and musician from Texas, Sundance grew up watching footage of his charismatic father Roy Head performing his classic hit “Treat Her Right”. After discovering his own musical talents and incredible vocal range, Sundance realized he was less like his dad and more like Otis Redding and B.B. King.
Along his musical journey Sundance developed his own sound dubbed “soul-country”, the foundation of his LP ‘Stained Glass & Neon’. His mix of blues, Motown-inspired soul, and traditional country music all paired with his powerful vocals has captured the hearts of many across America. It also led him to victory on Season 11 of NBC’s The Voice. While good at what he does, he’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.
I asked Sundance Head to tell me about a time when he did something nice for someone he didn’t know. Here’s what he shared.
“There’s one thing we do all the time. I teach my kids if we’re somewhere and we see one of the old fellas wearing a service hat, we’ll just buy their lunch or dinner or whatever’s going on. And my son might just walk up to one of them and say thank you for your service.
We don’t even have to say anything. We’ll just do it because we want to thank them for serving our country and protecting us around the world. And we do a lot of stuff for the armed forces. I like to support our military.
I believe in kindness. I try to do things everyday to just be kind to people, no matter who they are, where they are or where they come from. And I don’t do that to get accolades or anything else.
I just feel like that’s the right thing to do.” |THIS
