Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.
This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. CeCe Peniston is a shining example.
Peniston’s a game changer as much as she’s a mood changer. Dominating the Billboard charts with #1 hits “Finally”, “We Got a Love Thang”, “Keep On Walking”, “I’m In the Mood”, and “Hit by Love”, the Ohio-born icon sang lyrics that were characteristic of love ballads over up-tempo dance tracks. Thought provoking and energetic, Peniston, in a sense, reinvented feel-good music. The love party she sparked in the 90s still makes people “Celebrate” around the world today.
The lengths she’ll go to encourage and build-up those lacking professional and personal self-esteem should also be praised. A former Miss Galaxy, Peniston remains a down-to-earth person who conveys inner and outer beauty. While good at what she does, she’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.
I asked CeCe Peniston to tell me about a time when she did something nice for someone she didn’t know. Here’s what she shared.
“I saw three little children on the street corner selling lemonade for a dollar. I was driving and passed them too quick to stop, so I turned around. I told them I wanted $20 worth of lemonade.
They started jumping up and down in excitement!
I just smiled, and they were like “Wow” and “Thanks, ‘cause it’s hot.” And I was like, “Anytime.”
I turned around and gave them that amount to make sure they had a profit and because I loved the fact they were trying to be little business owners at such a young age.
It made me feel great to see them smile and it made me feel like a kid again.” |THIS
