Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people, that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one would willingly lend them a hand without reward.

This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. DJ Jazzy Jeff is a shining example.

Considered one of the greatest DJs to ever live, “The Magnificent” West Philadelphia native captivates audience around the globe with his innovative turntable skills, a display Jazzy Jeff’s fans have been packing venues to witness for more than 3 decades.

With an iconic award-winning career that began with his rapping partner The Fresh Prince (Will Smith) in the 80s, Jeff evolved into a respected maestro well beyond the duo. He’s become a creative producer who orchestrates future rhythms to be studied and admired for years to come. Everyone from Bono to Jill Scott, from Eminem to Questlove will attest Jeff’s a musical genius. While good at what he does, he’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.

I asked DJ Jazzy Jeff to tell me about a time when he did something nice for someone he didn’t know. Here’s what he shared.

“You know what’s funny? I’m a big person on karma. I don’t disrespect people because that’s not the way to get to them. You get to them by example. You get to them by building them up.

I don’t know if I can recall a time that I did something nice for someone that I would pull out. I can’t say, ‘Well, this one time I gave this person…’ It would probably be easier for me to tell you something that I did that wasn’t nice.

I think doing something nice for someone is what you should always do.” |THIS
