Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.
This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Lonna Hardin is a shining example.
An imaginative actress and storyteller who is also proficient in marketing, Hardin represents the savvy authors of the future. Possessing a Master of Science, the Full Sail University graduate uses technology and social networking to cultivate her reading audience. With a music background that netted her the nickname Songbird, she’s not nesting empty words.
Her book series Melody’s Song, which teaches children and their parents self-worth, is poised to be a favorite for years to come. While good at what she does, she’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.
I asked Lonna Hardin to tell me about a time when she did something nice for someone she didn’t know. Here’s what she shared.
“It was a very hot summer day. The temperature was well into the high 90s. I had picked my daughter up from school. I stopped at Earth Fare and picked up a smoothie during Happy Hour. They were $1.00 off. The young lady working made too much and since my 10-year-old was with me, she gave it to me thinking she may want it. Ironically, my daughter did not want it.
So, I had two smoothies.
As I left the store, I noticed a disabled man in a wheelchair struggling to get down a busy street. He was having a hard time and it was extremely hot. I stopped and asked if it was ok if I gave him the smoothie.
He was so grateful and took the smoothie. It touched my heart because you never know when you will be in a position to do something or help someone in some way. My thinking is maybe that smoothie was for him in the first place.” |THIS
