Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.
This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Latice Crawford is a shining example.
The Billboard-charting gospel singer/songwriter gained acclaim by turning personal pain into harmonious testimony. A native of Manhattan, NY, Crawford’s soulful, Broadway-caliber voice bares all her emotion, which proves therapeutic for her and her loyal following. While good at what she does, she’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.
I asked Latice Crawford to tell me about a time when she did something nice for someone she didn’t know. Here’s what she shared.
“I was in the grocery store and a woman was in line in front of me paying for her groceries with an EBT card. The cashier swiped her card and whispered that she didn’t have enough money to purchase her groceries.
The woman was completely embarrassed. [She] went in her bag, holding back tears, and pulled out $3 or $4. [She] said she would just purchase the bread.
I felt awful. I looked in my cart at my crab legs and shrimp and other items. I didn’t really need it but had decided to splurge because I had a little extra that day. I decided to leave those items behind to help her out. The items easily totaled about $60, which was more than enough to pay for all of her groceries.
I told the woman to put her groceries back on the scanner and get what she needed. I was also able to provide her with a little extra. I gave her my crab legs and shrimp, and told her to enjoy them.
I did it because I remembered that, just short of two years [before that], I was eating out of the garbage myself. And had it not been for the help of others there would have been days I wouldn’t have eaten. Due to the kindness and assistance of many people when I was struggling, I was able to help her.” |THIS.
