Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.

This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Fred Hammond is a shining example.

A multi-time Grammy, Stellar, and Dove Award winner, Hammond is one of the most successful, most recognized, and most respected artists in Gospel music today. Beginning his incredibly blessed run nearly 4 decades ago, the Detroit native’s made great use of his time in the spotlight.

After shining as a member of legendary group Commissioned, Hammond’s solo career made him a bona fide star. You’ll always hear him credit God for his achievements. While good at what he does, he’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.

I asked Fred Hammond to tell me about a time when he did something nice for someone he didn’t know. Here’s what he shared.

“From time to time I’ll pay for somebody’s dinner that I don’t know. Other than that, daily it could be a number of things.

My celebrity leads me to meet a lot of people that I just don’t know. And I hug them. I really hug them. I look them in the eye and I talk to them. Some of the people are taken aback because they didn’t think I’d be that warm of a person or that friendly.

Along with that, I help out at a friend of mine’s food pantry in Dallas. That’s the kind of thing you’ve got to do.” |THIS.
