Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.

This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Chris Walker is a shining example.

An award-winning, chart-topping, millions-selling singer, composer, producer and musician, Walker will be the first to tell you his career’s been an incredible blessing. Admired internationally for his marquee gospel, R&B and jazz dealings, the Texas born bass player earned his name in lights.

Another career spotlight shines on Walker’s role as Musical Director, bassist, and co-vocalist with late music legend Al Jarreau. While good at what he does, he’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.

I asked Chris Walker to tell me about a time when he did something nice for someone he didn’t know. Here’s what he shared.

“One time I was performing with Al in Colorado, I think it was Red Rocks, and there was a young lady backstage. I was standing next to her prior to going on stage and we had a conversation.

She started telling me about her life and some of the struggles she was going through as a single mother with 3 kids. I was so moved by it that I gave her $500.

I just, ‘Here.’ I balled it up and tried to make it as small as I could and just put it in her hand. She started crying like a baby.

She asked me, ‘Why? Why did you do this?’ I just explained to her there’s times when the Holy Spirit just tells you to do something and you have to be obedient.

And I do that randomly, and it varies with situations.

I’ll do whatever the Holy Spirit leads me to do.” |THIS.
