Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.
One of the top guitarists in the world, the lefty Funk Rock Goddess “can rock her ass off” according to Guitar World Magazine. She’s worked it off too.
Moye’s tireless, relentless dedication to her craft has made her an incredible, unparalleled performer, and an international icon. While good at what she does, she’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.
I asked Malina Moye to tell me about a time when she did something nice for someone she didn’t know. Here’s what she shared.
“I was at a restaurant and I saw this young man come in and ask for a job. The manager flat out turned him down.
I walked outside, said hello, and asked him a few questions. I then realized this was his first time trying to get a job. He was probably from a low-income neighborhood and he wasn’t wearing appropriate clothes.
He told me he went to 15 places and all of them turned him down. So I gave him some money to buy a nice outfit for his job search, then I took him back inside and asked the cashier if we could use her as a reference in the future if he came back in to re-apply. She thought he was nice and said, “Sure.”
I then explained to him the four things he must convey when looking for a job while wearing his job-hunting outfit:
1 – You’re always on time.
2 – You’re a team player.
3 – You really want the job.
4 – You’re a hard worker.
I returned to the restaurant a few months later and guess who had a job? Knowing what to do and having access is everything. He didn’t know why he kept getting turned down.
When you see someone who needs help … help them! It’s that simple.
Wouldn’t you want someone to help you or your brother or sister?” |THIS.
