Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.

This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Jerome Vierling is a shining example.

Outgoing and charismatic, Vierling shined as a hip-hip recording artist missionary. The former Executive Director of Soundsgood Records, he used music to connect today’s youth to the church. A producer also, his slick beats and rhymes touched lives across the world. When the music stopped, Vierling invited listeners to be disciples through the uses of 7 basic biblical principles.

Today his messages and invitations are heard every Sunday at City Life Church in Vierling’s native Lansing, MI. There he serves as its Lead Pastor. Though his doors are open to all, his welcoming reach isn’t confined to the sanctuary. Vierling actively takes his ministry and outreach into the streets of his community. While good at what he does, he’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.

I asked Jerome Vierling to tell me about a time when he did something nice for someone he didn’t know. Here’s what he shared.

“I see people at bus stops. And I feel like the Lord wants me to turn around.

There was this couple, I saw them and they’ve got their kid. They’re out there, they’re probably 20-years-old, and they’ve got a young baby. It’s superhot outside and they look like they’re fighting. And I know that look because I’ve been married 15 years!

So I turn around and I say, ‘Hey, you guys need a ride?’ And they were like, ‘No, we’re good, we’re good.’

I’m like, ‘I’ve got a wife and kids. I can tell you guys are fighting. Let me just help and get you to wherever you gotta go.’

So they said okay and they came. I took them to wherever. And they ended up coming to City Life.

When they saw me they were like, ‘You never told us you were the pastor!’ Well, who cares? Why would I tell you that? And they started getting plugged in.

They’re still on a journey, and it’s been amazing. Now I would consider them friends.

And that just happened literally from a bus stop.” |THIS.
