Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.
This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Brian H. Waters is a shining example.
A successful writer, media personality, broadcaster and social media producer, Waters is a 2-time recipient of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Award of Excellence for his work with John Hopkins Medicine. Articulate and charismatic, he hosts “Breaking Through the Glass Ceilings” podcast and also “Break It Down with Brian H” which is part of his hit professional wrestling YouTube series The Wrestling Wrealm.
After studying under the great Jerry Bembry at Morgan State University, the National Association of Black Journalists member moved on to successful runs with ESPN, Baltimore Sun, Better Business Bureau, and Fox Sports 1340.
This year The Wrestling Wrealm celebrates its 10-year anniversary. While good at what he does, he’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.
I asked Brian H. Waters to tell me about a time when he did something nice for someone he didn’t know. Here’s what he shared.
“There was this time when a lady was looking for a job. And this was during a NABJ Day.
I recommended her and I passed her resume around even though I didn’t really know her. But I looked at it as she cared enough about herself to invest to go to NABJ Day.
Obviously, she cared. Everybody there wants to be a journalist, but when you go to conventions and you’re networking, you care about yourself.
I went to one of the managers and recommended her. I don’t know if they brought her in for an interview or not, but I figured she was there, so she cared about her career.
What compelled me to do it is it goes back to the days when I didn’t have any opportunities. And…I just like to help people.” |THIS.
