Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.
This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Armando Vega is a shining example.
A celebrated singer, salsa dancer and musician, Vega is a hero in his Detroit, Michigan community and a beloved performer around the country. He’s electrified audiences at iconic venue DeVos Place and famed Beacon Park, jammed with La 313 Orquestra and Toledo Symphony Orquestra, and recorded live for PBS.
Applauded for his impassioned vocals, Vega got an assist from music legend Chino Nunez on his beautifully arranged single “Amor De Un Hijo”, which is a tribute to his late mother.
While good at what he does, he’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.
I asked Armando Vega to tell me about a time when he did something nice for someone that he didn’t know. Here’s what he shared.
“I was working with a buddy of mine, Hector, he’s a writer from Puerto Rico. When I met this gentleman, he was having trouble with somebody picking up his lyrics and recording them so his music could get out there.
So, I got an opportunity to work with a producer who’d worked with Quincy Jones, Toni Braxton, a bunch of great artists. I got an opportunity to cut an album with him, and I called Hector in to help with the lyrics.
So, we became partners!
I helped him out for his music to get out there and we did a project, La 313 Orquestra. It’s all original music and some of the best in Latin music.
One of the good things I’ve done is helping individuals musically.” |THIS.
