Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.

This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. KC Carter is a shining example.

An outstanding designer and content creator, Carter is the owner and publisher of Hood Illustrated Magazine, the #1 independent Hip Hop magazine in the U.S. With Midwest and West Coast versions of the publication, KC continues to grow the impression and reach of the magazine each year.

Acclaimed for assisting artists on the rise, KC is equally revered by the well-established. Top national acts on both major and independent labels look to him for authentic representation. Respected coast to coast, KC is frequently invited to share his wisdom and publication opportunities at conventions, award shows, and media functions across the country.

While good at what he does, he’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.

I asked KC Carter to tell me about a time when he did something nice for someone that he didn’t know. Here’s what he shared.

“I’m always doing stuff for people. When it pertains to the magazine and promotion, I often try to lookout for artists who are hustlers.

I look for people who have a talent but don’t always exercise the outlets available. What I’ve done is put them in the magazine. I’ve put a lot of people in the magazine.

This magazine is an outlet used to showcase talent that don’t have many other outlets. I help them, and to them it’s a big deal.

I spoke with an artist a while ago who is a producer. I featured him in the early stages of the magazine back in ’08. He told me being in Hood Illustrated, career wise, put him on another level, which is great. He started getting more attention, and more business.

To me, I was just showing love. And I make sure that I continue to support what they’re doing.

I didn’t know it was an affect that he really felt, and he’s still appreciative years later.

From my end I’m just showing love. I’ve always figured it’s a good idea to show love.” |THIS.
