Negativity and selfishness gets great publicity in our social networking, indirect-contact society. You’d be led to believe the world’s running low on good people and that no one cares for or respects one another anymore. Their only concerns are themselves; and when they’re in need, no one is willing to lend them a hand without reward.
This is not the case. Kind, caring, selflessly-generous people still exist. Cari Champion is a shining example.
Champion is co-anchor on ESPN’s SportsCenter Coast-to-Coast and host of popular espw podcast Be Honest with Cari Champion.
A graduate of UCLA, she’s a respected journalist and reporter that evolved from a sideline reporter for the Tennis Channel into a standout on-air personality with the worldwide leader in sports. While good at what she does, she’s also a good person and one who believes in helping others.
We asked Cari Champion to tell us about a time when she did something nice for someone she didn’t know. THIS is what she shared.
“I try to do that all the time. I think to whom much is given, much is required.
I’m a big believer, and the reason why I’ve been blessed is because we always pay it forward in whatever capacity – whether I know that person or I don’t know that person.
Whether it’s giving a homeless person some money, whether it’s donating to a charity, whether it’s investing in our young brown girls which I’m a big believer in, I pick people and I invest in them and I mentor them, and I tell them to pay it forward.
I can’t think of a specific time because I try to do it as a part of my daily practice in terms of…just always helping others whenever I can.” |THIS.
