The exit from 2019 to 2020 brought us to expected treacherous roads.

We were driving along feeling optimistic about what was ahead of us. Then with little to no warning, we hit a patch of snow unlike any we’d ever experienced.

Our progress came to halt.

We panicked.

We felt trapped in our vehicles.

We knew if we got out and walked, we’d have to bundle up in ways we weren’t entirely comfortable with or fond of doing.

We saw that other vehicles, ones of every make and model, got stuck too. It was an unpleasant shared calamity forcing us to walk together.

Looking down at the snow we saw many footprints going in all directions. Sadly, some of them stopped short. They were lost forever.

We said and continued to say this whole trip was an unbearable failure.

But it wasn’t. It’s not.

We’ve learned not being able to drive increased our drive. As we trudge through this icy muck, we’ve discovered newfound determination. Our unexpected route gave us time and opportunities to explore new paths, to further appreciate the clothes on our backs, the legs and feet we’re still standing on, and whatever is already in our pockets.

We can make.

We will make. We’ll survive these snowy roads. |THIS.
