Time travel is real. We began our annual “Reflection Q&A Interview Series” six years ago; in each one the participant recounts their likes and growth from the previous year while also sharing what to expect from them in the year to come.
THISENT.com did not exist when the pioneering “15 to 16 Q&A” debuted with another publication in 2016. The beauty of it all is that time has allowed our team to carry the series with us here today.
With that in mind we decided to share the interview with late, great platinum Hip Hop producer and musician PL12 from six years ago!
Following this trip through time, we’ll share what PL12 accomplished six years later. THIS is for YOU!
What was your favorite song last year?
Honestly, not even being cocky or anything, but the song “I Do” that I produced for Houston, TX rap star Sun is my favorite song of 2015. It landed us in over 25 different magazines and blogs, and it also turned into one of 50 Cent’s Effen Vodka promo commercials.
What was your favorite movie?
The movie Dope about the kids who accidently get forced into selling dope was probably my favorite flick of 2015. “Dope” story line! [Laughs]
What’s the television show you couldn’t stop watching?
I rarely watch TV, but when I do watch the tube, I always peep out Ancient Aliens on The History Channel! If you haven’t checked that joint out yet… I’ll just say it’s very enlightening.
What album did you play the most?
To Pimp a Butterfly got the most spins out of any album I grabbed. Kendrick Lamar, I feel, is one of the top 3 rappers alive. That live music vibe that mixed jazz, funk, soul and hip-hop all in one album, along with his sick word play – genius! I gotta get in contact with his camp ASAP.
What did you Goggle the most?
To be honest, I probably Googled Serena Williams the most in the state of Michigan! [Laughs] But I have Googled her, though!
What’s the most shocking news you heard all year?
The most shocking thing I heard someone say all year is that it’s legal to fake your death in Las Vegas, which is the city where my teenage idol and best rapper ever “died” in 1996. Could Makaveli still be amongst us? Call me a C.T. if you must.
Tell how you evolved over the last 12 months.
I feel I’ve evolved in so many different ways. But if I had to choose one particular thing it would be that I don’t jump for every dollar thrown at me for a beat. I know my worth now, and all money ain’t good money.
What was your biggest blessing?
My biggest blessing was being introduced to my dawg, Sun, from Houston. Without him a lot of my features and write-ups – AllHipHop.com, Concrete615.com, Effen Vodka commercial, etc. – wouldn’t have happened. We make great music together, and we got some colossal things in store for all of our fans and followers!
What can your fans and critics expect from you in 2016?
A few big things to expect from me are movie soundtrack placements, more music produced by me released by my folks at Street Fam out of NY, crazy joints from me and my guy Sun, and just a complete elevation of my sound. Expect it. It’s coming.
And forget what People Magazine says! Who was the sexiest person of the year?
Zoe Saldana, hands down! As a matter of fact, I hope she sees this interview. Give her my contact info! [Laughs]| THIS is for YOU!

NOW: PL12 would famously team with DJ Iceberg, this took his production career to new and exciting heights. His string of success would include hits for Dorrough, RND Officially, Mr. 1204, Don Trip, Scotty ATL, and Ballislife, among others. Before his unexpected passing, PL12 was awarded platinum plaques from major industry outlets – steaming service Spotify and video game giant 2K Sports.
Rest In Peace, Louis Eric Bailey aka PL12
