Time travel is real. We began our annual “Reflection Q&A Interview Series” six years ago; in each one the participant recounts their likes and growth from the previous year while also sharing what to expect from them in the year to come.

THISENT.com did not exist when the pioneering “15 to 16 Q&A” debuted with another publication in 2016. The beauty of it all is that time has allowed our team to carry the series with us here today.

With that in mind we decided to share the interview with multi-time award-winning singer, songwriter, and acclaimed live performer Tracy Cruz from six years ago!

Following this trip through time, we’ll share what Tracy is up to six years later. THIS is for YOU!

What was your favorite song last year?

My favorite song of 2015 was “P.S.” by Elzhi, my favorite emcee of all time. I constantly played that song when I wanted to sit still and reflect or when I was going through a tough time. I’m highly anticipating the release of his upcoming Hip Hop album Lead Poison

What was your favorite movie?

My favorite movie was Inside Out. The concept of that movie was ingenious. It gave me a brand-new perspective on human emotions and how they’re greatly affected by our interpersonal relationships.

What’s the television show you couldn’t stop watching?

I couldn’t stop watching House of Cards! The excellent plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! I felt a roller coaster of emotions watching that show.

What album did you play the most?

I heavily played Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly. It’s an honest, unapologetic, and courageous musical masterpiece. He addressed a lot of issues such as injustice, greed, depression, etc. which makes the album extremely compelling and relevant.

What did you Goggle the most?

D’Angelo. I’ve been a huge fan of D’Angelo since I was 14 years old. I was completely overjoyed that he released his brilliant Black Messiah album and was set to go on tour. I was so excited that he was making a comeback after 14 years! I monitored his music updates on a weekly basis and played his beautiful songs “Really Love” and “Another Life” daily!

What’s the most shocking news you heard all year?

I was truly shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only daughter of the late, great Whitney Houston. It broke my heart knowing that in a span of three years Whitney and her daughter passed away, and their musical legacy was cut short. My heart aches for their families. They will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

Tell how you evolved over the last 12 months.

2015 was a very challenging year for me. I learned how to channel my inner strength through adversity. I’m still a work in progress but I’m working towards progress!

What was your biggest blessing?

I was able to perform on the legendary Yoshi’s Jazz Club stage for the third time. I was also featured on KTVU Channel 2 News and KOFY TV 20.

What can your fans and critics expect from you in 2016?

I’m actively working on a full-length Hip Hop/Soul album with my dear friend, emcee Tyson Amir. Our duo name is illa Street Blues. We are planning on releasing new music in 2016. I can’t wait to share it with you all.

And forget what People Magazine says! Who was the sexiest person of the year?

D’Angelo! | THIS is for YOU!
