Growing up during his prime, DMX was one of my top 5 artists.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard him on “24hrs to Live”. He stood out to me because each rapper had their own fame and success, and he stood out in the midst of all of them.

His storytelling ability was unprecedented, especially how he could write from a subconscious point of view.

X taught me that any expression of life can be viewed beautifully, even if the story is unfortunate. It’s the transparency and willingness to be vulnerable as an alpha Black man for me.

“How’s It Going Down” made me feel gangster but not too hard to show infatuation for women.

“What They Really Want” featuring Sisqo showed me he was an international star. What other hardcore rapper could jump on a track with Sisqo?!

There will never be another like DMX. |THIS.
