Marqus Anthony took time out his busy schedule to answer our “2020 Twenty Questions” questionnaire! We hope THIS INTERVIEW entertains and inspires you.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how happy are you to be alive?

10!

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a football player because I loved the Michigan Wolverines.

What was your favorite cartoon?

Dragon Ball Z.

Tell us your favorite song as a kid, as a teenager, and now as an adult.

Kid: Juvenile – “Back That Thang Up”.

Teenager: Any song by Lil Wayne

Adult: My next single “Portrait”.

What’s an album that means more to you now than it did when you first heard it?

Lauryn Hill’s because I wasn’t saved when I first heard it, so it hits different now.

What are your 3 favorite movies?

Remember the Titans, 8 Mile, and The Wood.

What’s the last film that made you cry or almost cry, and what scene did it?

Man, when Tony Stark died in Endgame. I felt that.

What’s your all-time favorite TV show?

Breaking Bad.

Which character on that show do you identify with most?

Nobody, really. I guess I’m different.

What makes you laugh out loud or smile uncontrollably every time you see it or hear it?

Seeing pictures of my one-year-old nephew.

Who in your family served you the most delicious, unforgettable dish you’ve ever eaten?

I’d have to say my grandpa’s meatballs.

Tell us the most nutritious thing you’ve fed your mind.

The Bible.

When did you start to understand your value?

I think I’m understanding more and more every day just how valuable I am.

Who is the G.O.A.T. of your profession?

To me the best hip-hop artist of all time is Lil Wayne. When you add his mixtapes, albums, singles, and loose songs together with his features and collaborations then his catalogue becomes untouchable.

His work ethic and dedication to the craft is unmatched. One could argue that every chapter of Tha Carter series is a hip-hop classic, not to mention Da Drought 3, No Ceilings, and the Dedication mixtapes. His wordplay is the best, he has the most flows and styles. He dropped a platinum album in 1999 at 17 and a billboard number one album in 2020.

He influenced this entire current generation of young rappers. He even established Young Money and signed both Drake and Nicki Minaj, helping turn them both into global icons. He’s still only 38 years old.

Do you aspire to be like them or more like someone you have a stronger personal connection to?

The only person I really aspire to be like is Jesus. He is the only perfect example.

Recall for us the first time you failed. What lesson did you learn from that?

I remember falling off of my bike. I learned to be more careful.

In what way have you evolved over the last 12 months?

I believe I have matured in my faith.

When was a time that someone you didn’t know did something nice for you? What did they do?

Some radio stations I didn’t know requested my music.

How would you explain to someone the importance of valuing their time?

We can accomplish a lot more than we think we can. Consistency is key.

What’s been the biggest blessing of your life?

Knowing the Lord. |THIS.
