Her growing fan base is loving her single “Say Less” and are ready for everything she creates next.

Simply Rayne took time out her busy schedule to answer our “2020 Twenty Questions” questionnaire! We hope THIS INTERVIEW entertains and inspires you.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how happy are you to be alive?

10+!

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

I have always wanted to be an entertainer – singing, dancing, acting. I just love creating and performing.

What was your favorite cartoon?

The Proud Family.

Tell us your favorite song as a kid, as a teenager, and now as an adult.

As a kid, anything Disney.

As a teen, “Love of My Life” by Erykah Badu.

Now, “Summer 2020” by Jhene Aiko.

What’s an album that means more to you now than it did when you first heard it?

‘The Gift’ by Beyonce. Once I saw the visuals the lyrics really hit home.

What are your 3 favorite movies?

Not a big movie buff, however my three favorite documentaries are Life Is but A Dream, Quincy, and Muscle Shoales.

What’s the last film that made you cry or almost cry, and what scene did it?

When They See Us. The whole film was very emotional for me.

What’s your all-time favorite TV show?

On My Block.

Which character on that show do you identify with most?

Probably the character Jamal because he is a go-getter and very outgoing.

What makes you laugh out loud or smile uncontrollably every time you see it or hear it?

Beyonce!

Who in your family served you the most delicious, unforgettable dish you’ve ever eaten?

My Nana. She would throw down that gumbo, baked mac & cheese, fried catfish, spaghetti … !

Tell us the most nutritious thing you’ve fed your mind.

The affirmation that abundance is my birthright.

When did you start to understand your value?

I have always understood my value as it relates to self-respect and being respected, but as I matured, I don’t sweat the small stuff.

Who is the G.O.A.T. of your profession?

Beyonce,  [because of ] the way she approaches every project with the mindset of wanting to consistently evolve.

Do you aspire to be like them or more like someone you have a stronger personal connection to?

I’m inspired by a lot of people, but the only person I can truly and authentically be is myself!

Recall for us the first time you failed. What lesson did you learn from that?

I view “failure” as an opportunity to improve. That being said, I have had moments that I look back on and critiqued. My mantra is “From failure comes success if you address and assess what caused the failure.”

In what way have you evolved over the last 12 months?

The last 12 months have been amazing. I have leveled-up as it relates to the people I am working with, the quality and production of my music and videos, and my overall social platforms.

When was a time that someone you didn’t know did something nice for you? What did they do?

That’s a hard one. However, I would say the overwhelming support I am receiving from my fans listening, liking and most of all sharing my music with their friends and family, it means the most to me.

How would you explain to someone the importance of valuing their time?

My parents taught me the old-school way. Valuing people’s time is a form of respect.

What’s been the biggest blessing of your life?

My supportive mom, dad, and sister. |THIS.
