Video game champion Cayke Monster (formally Cake Monster) was one of the first people to be interviewed by the staff of THISENT.com.
Cayke was the winner of Tekken 7 game tournament “Fight Night Round 1” which took place on November 28, 2018 at The Robin Theatre in Lansing, MI. On that night he became the first Moneyball Sportswear Grand Champion. Since then he’s become much more.
Today Cayke is a respected gaming mentor and influencer, and he’s also becoming a standout streamer at Twitch.tv/cayke_monster where he shines in League of Legends.
Originally THIS INTERVIEW with Cayke Monster was 2 parts. Here you get THE COMPLETE REMASTERED EXPERIENCE!
Cayke Monster, how did it feel to win [the] inaugural “Fight Night: Round 1” gaming tournament?
It was great! There was some good fights and I had a really good time! I had some challenges but made it happen.
What were your expectations coming in?
With a Tekken tournament you can expect anything. It’s too many characters to have a game plan for and expect it to go your way.
How long have you been playing Tekken?
Since I was a kid, since Tekken 2. I’ve been playing since then; playing Tekken 3, Tekken 4, Tekken Tag.
We love Tekken Tag!
Yes! Their next Tekken tournament should be Tekken Tag!
Who is your Tekken Tag team?
Ooh… My team was Brian Fury and Bruce Erving.
Cayke Monster, you’re good with Brian Fury. We were really entertained by you using him in the tournament. Your punch combos were chilling to watch. Are you a fan of boxing?
Yes, I am. [Laughs]
We noticed early on that you weren’t using kicks. Has that been your main character all along?
Well, I tried using Steve Fox; I liked his parries and counters. But overall, I just liked Brian’s ruthless aggression.
Were you nervous during the tournament finals? You appeared pretty confident, almost unrattled up to that point. Did Ali have you worried at all?
Absolutely! Ali’s really good with his kicks, and really good at mixing up high, low, and mid [attacks]. I had to really pace myself. I couldn’t throw it all at him. I had to take my time.
This obviously wasn’t your first time. How many tournaments have you competed in?
Since I was kid, like 7. Recently? [That was] my first one back.
How many tournaments have you won?
I’ve won 6.
We thought that night felt special just watching it all. Tell us what being a part of “Fight Night” felt like to you.
It felt great! And this is a great idea. It’s one thing to be good at one game, it’s another to see how you test your metal with new games. It’s a great idea and I can’t wait until the next one. It gets kids off the street and gets them to focus on something else. It’s a great avenue.
What if you find yourself up against a world class gamer like Austin Creed at the next “Fight Night”?
From ‘Up, Up, Down, Down’? He’ll catch these hands! I’m ready for any challenge! |THIS.
