Note from the Editor: Before the launch of THISENT.com, I had the honor of conducting a memorable interview with award-wining entertainment icon Raven-Symone.

Well received by its original viewing audience, our conservation, unfortunately, disappeared from the public eye. Luckily, I was able to relocate the interview in my personal archives and we’re happy to present to you now!

Raven and I shared a two-part conversation. In this first half, the actress, recording artist, producer, and director spoke openly about being thankful, holiday shopping, and what she enjoys about the fall in her native Georgia. Here you get that entire part of the INTERVIEW in THIS COMPLETE REMASTERED EXPERIENCE!

Raven, the holiday season is marketed for shopping and gift giving, but it’s really about being grateful and showing loved ones you care. What are you most thankful for and who are you most appreciative of?

I am most thankful for my health and sanity. I’m most appreciative of everyone who comes into my life because I try to learn something new from each encounter.

Tell us what you’ve learned from your fans. And when you meet them, do they have difficulty distinguishing the real you from the characters you portray?

I learned that they are very loyal, and without them I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now. I’m just myself when I meet people. No characters involved and they seem to be okay with my personality.

What’s a gift worth standing in line for and are you able to Christmas shop without being mobbed?

The answer to that question has been on my mind for years. Can’t I just take off that time of the month until I need it??!!! Or at least the pain and attitude! [Laughs] Sorry! I’m just being honest! Otherwise, I like to stay a little in the dark. It keeps you sharp.

Thankfully, I’m able to go to the store and to the mall without being mobbed. I don’t walk in with sunglasses on and a hat down on my face. I also have so many different hairstyles, you never know what I’m going to look like! I like wigs, weaves, and my natural hair. I like changing the color and the style of my hair.

If I feel like it is going to be a problem, I will take security.

Tell us what gift your home state of Georgia gave you that no other place could.

Growing up in Georgia taught me all about hospitality. It taught me how to treat people and how to respect others. Please and thank you, ma’am! It’s weird because I’m getting older, and people are calling me [ma’am] now.

Some women get offended when they’re called ma’am. They say it makes them feel old. You’re in your How do you feel about the term used toward you?

Being a southern girl, I know that’s just a word that shows respect in the South. It doesn’t make me feel old at all.

What do you enjoy most about the fall months there?

I enjoy the coloring of the foliage! You are surprised when you can look out your door anywhere and find that there is beauty around you. The sky and the trees are gorgeous there!

Raven, at this stage in your life how are you like the color-changing foliage of the fall months?

People go through changes in different stages and ages in their lives, just like the foliage changes each season. | THIS ENT
