Semi-pro football team the Lansing Lightning are uplifting their community while providing sports enthusiasts with much needed live gridiron action. One of their exciting players, #4 free safety Tavonte Bezue is happy to be part of their winning, motivating culture.

In THIS INTERVIEW Bezue talked being rooted for by the community, using your IG, and admiring Dion Sanders. Enjoy!

What is something you’ve learned about football by playing that the average person can’t learn by simply watching?

Playing this game is almost like looking in the mirror; it shows your greatest flaws and weaknesses, but what it forces you to do is to work on those flaws and perfect them.

Who is the best to ever play your position and what about them inspires you?

In my book “Primetime” Deion Sanders is the best DB to ever do it. You look good, you play good. He played with intensity, he’d let you know about it, and danced on you to the touchdown. Yeah, that describes me to a T.

You and your teammates play to win, but why does losing matter too?

When you put blood, sweat, and tears in your craft, losing affects you big time. Losing equates to not being prepared, and who enjoys not being prepared?

What can young fans learn from you besides sportsmanship and hard work?

What a young player can learn from my game is that football is really 80% mental, 20% physical. Use your IQ to gain an advantage on your opponent. I find a weakness and exploit it.

Why is it important for Lansing Lightning and the community to support one another?

The world we live in today is not the same one that we grew up in. With that being said, we need to give people a reason to look forward to Saturdays. Just like how we did when we were playing as kids. It starts with the little things, like coming out to root for your Lansing Lightning! |THIS.
