Pro wrestling icon CM Punk returned to the profession that made him a star on the second episode of All Elite Wrestling’s new TBS show RAMPAGE. One of my all-time favorite performers, I was very happy to see him.
After seven years away from the squared circle and its fans, Punk returned to an incredible ovation inside the sold-out United Center in his hometown of Chicago, IL.
The moment was breath-taking to watch, and I’ve watched it at least 10 times since. (Side Note: Our own “Big Time” Rigo Flores was there live. You’ll get to hear about the experience from him soon.)
Now signed to AEW, Punk is poised to make his mark on the industry for a second time. It’s distinctive, permanent mark that saw fans continue chanting his name in arenas around country the entire seven years he was out of action.
Punk’s first opponent will be AEW’s rising star, former TNT Champion Darby Allin. A high-risk daredevil mentored by Hall of Fame legend Sting, Allin and Punk could have an instant-classic match.
It will hopefully be one I’ll want to watch at least 10 times. | By M.J. Walker, Photo Courtesy of AEW
