Alex The Host and his crew talked about Dune on a previous episode of The Levels Podcast.

Listening to them review the sci-fi movie made me remember watching the 1984 version of the film. It’s decades of popularity had me curious, and it had Sting from The Police in it. The worst possible outcome was me not liking it. After some posturing with my own doubts, I watched it.

I’m still not sure if I liked it or not, but I’m certain I did not understand it.

Dune is a strange, slow film with a lot happening to, and because of, its characters and their relationships. I remember thinking the effects were cool for its age. It also made me sleepy, but I never zonked out.

Trying to understand what the heck was going on kept me awake through the end.

My plan is to watch the new version soon, and I sure hope it makes sense. |By Mr. Joe Walker
