I was excited to see Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings in a movie theater.
After watching its trailers, being impressed by the wide shots of hand-to-hand combat and stunning cinematography, I was sure a normal theater experience wasn’t going to be enough. I needed the screen to equal the height of my anticipation.
That led me to my local IMAX theater. It was the right decision.
As incredible as Shang-Chi is, I imagine it would be enjoyable on any screen because of its excellent story and acting. The added bonus of its visual splendor begs to be enjoyed on the biggest screen possible.
There’s a flashback scene where Shang-Chi’s 10-rings-weilding father Wenwu, the movie’s heavy-hearted villain, meets his mystically graceful mother Leiko. It’s big, bright, and gorgeous, and it looks tailormade for that gargantuan screen.
If you haven’t seen the newest MCU entry yet and you’re planning to watch it in theaters, I recommend you go see it in IMAX. | By M.J. Walker
