Hip Hop artist/writer Mr. Rockwell is one of God’s soldiers, a pioneering online Hip Hop journalist, and a dope MC.
Twenty years ago, back in 2003, a much younger Mr. Rockwell – fresh off his groundbreaking run with The Groove Spot Online Hip Hop Magazine/TheGrooveSpot.com – rhymed openly about his faith in God and personal challenges before lyrics associated with subgenre CHH (Christian Hip Hop) were as respected as they are now.
Dealing with the loss of his mother, Mr. Rockwell released his debut LP; a gritty, boom bap concept album titled Prescriptions. Produced by Rockwell, The Trap Pianist, C.J. Plays, it’s sound and Rockwell’s clever, from-personal-depths rhymes are certainly worth a listen 20 years later. They resonate in world more open to discussing mental and emotional health and celebrating the decades-long impact of Hip Hop culture.
