This is filmmaker Michael McCallum. He, in my eyes, is already one of the all-time greats.
A poetic writer, producer, editor, photographer, actor, and director, Michael is the owner of the incredibly successful Michigan-based film company Rebel Pictures.
Acclaimed by viewers and critics, his films have played in more than 400 national and international film festivals, received more than 200 nominations, and won nearly 200 major awards. That’s remarkable.
Rebel’s two most recent sci-fi/horror films, Photalgia and Choices, were both accepted into the 2021 Independent Horror Movie Awards.
Photalgia was also accepted into Venice Shorts in Venice, CA, KaPow Intergalactic Film Festival in Hollywood, and it won Best Film at the 48-Hour Film Project: Detroit.
Their film Bequeathed was accepted into the 46th annual Boston Sci-Fi Festival, the longest running genre festival in the nation and the second longest in the world. Very impressive.
When he’s not making films, Michael is talking making them and more as the host of radio talk show “The Magic Hour with Michael McCallum”.
A native on Lansing, MI, Michael was awarded the Michigan Independent Filmmaker of the Year 2012 by Uptown Film Festival.
A former Board of Directors member for Grand Rapids Film Festival, Michael’s film industry leadership and creative voice have encouraged productions throughout his state and beyond.
Michael is also a leader in his community. His PickUpLansing Movement assembles residents to help keep his city clean. He’s a Rebel with a cause. |THIS.
